Workshop Backdrop
This is a Workshop for those who want to get away from your surroundings and spend time seeing what rural Montana is all about, while learning the techniques of taking pictures and processing Black and White Photography.
Our ranch is located about 30 miles west of Great Falls, Montana. We are situated right under the famous Square Butte which is a well known landmark in central Montana. Charles Russell, a well-known oil painter from this area, depicted the Butte in many of his paintings. About 40 miles to the West is the Rocky Mountain Front, which runs all the way to Canada. Our place is considered a small working ranch by Montana standards. We raise cattle, sheep, and have a haying operation. My wife Diana and I have owned and operated the ranch for many years. Our three girls are all grown up and have their own families and busy lives.
Hopefully, I can help you with your goal of being a successful Black and White Photographer. We have a great setting here at our ranch and surrounding area for outstanding images of Montana and the West. You do not have to have knowledge of Black and White Photography, just a desire to learn.
Who I Am
I have spent 28 years in the Education field here in Montana. Teaching Art was my job during that time. Black and White Photography was a major part of my teaching. The Gallery Page on this web site are examples of my work. I feel well qualified and with your desire to learn, “what more could we ask for”.
If you have any questions don’t hesitate to call. My number is (406) 264-5229 or
